About the Artist

A physician and psychiatrist by training, Eric Avery uses his art to explore subjects such as human rights abuses, social responses to disease (HIV in particular), death, sexuality, and the body.

About the Program

Initiated in 1966, the Student Loan Art Collection program, offers individual students, as well as student groups, the opportunity to borrow important works of art by leading contemporary artists for their living or work spaces for the academic year. Selections from the Collection has been exhibited annually every September since 1977.
