President Paul Kagame of Rwanda delivered the Karl Taylor Compton Lecture, titled "Imperative of Science and Technology in Accelerating African and Rwandan Development," at Kresge Auditorium on September 18, 2008. He is the first democratically elected president of the Republic of Rwanda and the first African leader to give MIT's prestigious Compton lecture.
