In 1849, MIT founder William Barton Rogers married Emma Savage, who came from a family of abolitionists in Boston. Emma would later edit Life and Letters of William Barton Rogers with the assistance of William T. Sedgwick (Boston: Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1896).
